So this didn’t happen recently, it was in maybe September. I was out for a ride on my 2012 Ducati Monster 796 and I ended up getting stuck in horrible traffic with zero ability to lane split for like a full hour. It was fairly warm out and the bike was absolutely cooking. I considered pulling over, but the temp gauge wasn’t maxed, so I figured it’d be ok. Gradually, I noticed the friction zone of my clutch lever was migrating outward. This actually continued until the clutch just completely stopped disengaging the drivetrain even when fully depressed. Luckily at this point, which only lasted about 5 minutes, I was able to pull over. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I pulled over and waited a bit. After about 15 minutes, I pumped the clutch a few times and it seemed normal. I rode back home without issue. I also rode the bike twice after that and didn’t notice anything unusual about the clutch.I have no idea what caused this problem. Any suggestions? I’m going to bring the bike out for spring soon, and I’d like to have it sorted if it’s a real problem. For background, I did take the bike to Ducati about 2-3 weeks before the incident and they did change the fluids and put on a new OEM clutch lever. But it was fine before and after that day. Was it the heat? Do I have to bleed my clutch? (I’ve never done that, the dealer does it for me).
