About to pull the trigger on a 2018 Ninja 400: please console me that I'm doing the right thing.

I have an old GPz550 that I've been riding for a while.At the advice of a friend, I'm looking at buying a Ninja 400 tomorrow morning. I'll be focusing on improving during track days then entering races in a season or two.Is this the right bike for me? I'm new, but I'm 6' tall. Will it be a dog, being a 2-cylinder 400CC bike?
