Do bikes need to be ridden at high rpm (at least occasionally) for the health of the engine? Does age matter?

I’ve heard that older cars needed to “be taken on the highway” every now and then, or more specifically, driven through the full range of rpm (mostly the city neglected high rpm range) to keep the engine running long and healthy. Was/ is this the case for older bikes as well, and is it true of modern bikes? via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/g4na77/do_bikes_need_to_be_ridden_at_high_rpm_at_least/?utm_source=ifttt
