We're moving up north, and the situation isn't right to take a bike, so I've got my Vstrom listed online. A friend of a friend saw it and wanted to come take a look, so cool, right on, come on over!He gets here, has a license, recently took the MSF and wants a first bike for running around country highways. Sure, ok, this could work - it's a little big for a first, but it's a great highway bike, and it's certainly not impossible. He hops on, and immediately has to be reminded which is the clutch and which the brakes, can barely keep the bike upright with it off, and is just kind of tip-toeing it down a very slight hill, with me holding it upright from the back.We get 75' away from his girlfriend, and I very quietly say "I'm not going to sell you this bike, you'll get yourself killed".He's immediately a little embarrassed and starts to make some more noises about how good it would be for him, and I let him talk, but the whole time I'm keeping him upright, because he doesn't have the ability to put both feet down, and it's too heavy for one foot for him.I point him to some smaller bikes that might be a better fit, turn around and push it back up hill and say to him loudly "Yeah, I'm sorry it wouldn't start, that's really embarrassing for me!" right in front of his girlfriend. He gets it immediately and is like, yeah, no worries, thanks for your time anyways, let me know if you figure it out, and if you see any other bikes around that might be cool too. They exchange a couple more pleasantries, then head out.I'm out the sale, but I didn't let a kid get himself into a stupid situation. Somebody else will want the bike (or not and I'll keep riding after all) the important thing is he didn't get embarrassed in front of the girl and got home safe with a list of potentially better options for him.So yeah, I didn't sell my bike today... via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/fc34fb/i_didnt_sell_my_bike_today/?utm_source=ifttt
