Hello riders, I’d like to share a story that has really opened my eyes and I hope it does for you. It’s 4 o’clock and the jewellery shop closes at 5, I needed a gift for my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day, which is in 2 days, I had the roses In my bag and the chocolates, just the bracelet next. I’m on the highway overtaking peak hour traffic going no higher than the speed limit which was 60kph, I fly up a hill like I usually do and you guessed it, what looked like a thousand cars all waiting at the red light. I remember stomping on the rear break as hard as I could but there wasn’t enough room and out of panic I pulled my front brake really hard to avoid rear ending this guys car and it all happened in a matter of seconds, I flew over the handle bars almost like super man and my bike staying completely upright spun around and hit the floor hard, imagine ur back tire coming off the ground and then your front tire and while the bike is completely air born upside down, it hits the street. As for me, I went air born but hit the floor rather quick and found myself under this mans ute/pick up truck, as I realised what happened, I found it real hard to breath but I managed to crawl from under this mans Ute. After a few seconds the owner of the car and his son walked me to the side of the highway and called me an ambulance, a lady with a dash cam also came to my aid and offered to help as well. The three of them stayed with me till the ambulance arrived. The paramedics looked me other, bandaged me and were kind enough to to give me a lift home.Allow me to also add: thank you to the man and his son for stopping and making sure of my well-being. Thank you to the woman that stopped even know she didn’t have too. Thank you to the fellow biker that asked if I was good. Thank you to the fire and rescue team that made sure I was okay and finally thank you to the paramedics for everything. If by small chance ur reading this, thank you, you are truly good people.Allow to fill in the blanks: yes this did happen to me to day, I got away very lucky today, only having grazing on my knees, left elbow, left shoulder, and broken finger. This could of been so much worse and I may not of even been alive if not for Jesus and a lot of luck. I was not wearing gear and it’s the last time I will ever make that mistake. To end this long story, thank you for reading. If you take anything from this, never rush, I was and I didn’t get the bracelet, all I got was injured, a totalled bike and the roses and chocolates I mentioned are all over the highway,. You will not ever win if you rush, I would of been better off missing the store and coming back with 2/3 items instead of nothing.Ride safe my fellow riders! I apologise for my spelling and grammar. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/f258e5/crashed_my_bike_and_i_am_so_lucky/?utm_source=ifttt
