SV650 shifting issue

For the last couple of weeks my 2018 SV650 (about 10000 kms) has been intermittently difficult to upshift. At first it happened after riding for an hour or so, stopping for 20 minutes, and taking off again. I missed the shift from 1st to 2nd because I was surprised by the sudden stiffness but afterwards it seemed to come good and then went away. However in the last week or so it's become more frequent. In particular it seems to happen when I ride for a while then stop before taking off again, even if only for a few minutes. There is never any issue downshifting. Its as smooth as it always was. One other thing I noticed though is that I used to have some free play in the shifter in that I would preload for an upshift and there was slight give there before disengaging the clutch and completing an up shift. When this problem started that slack seemed to disappear.I've done the following so far: - adjusted clutch cable. I've tried more slack and less slack (within the manual spec range) and it makes no difference. I don't have any symptoms of slipping or dragging that I can tell anyway. Once in gear the bike and clutch behave as they always have. - replaced oil and oil filter - checked chain slack - checked the shifter linkage and surrounding components. When in neutral the shifter moves up and down as per normal (free play) so I dont think shifter is physically stuck in any way.At this point I'm going to have to take it to a mechanic but it will take a few days for me to arrage that and I'm open for any suggestions. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/ekay34/sv650_shifting_issue/?utm_source=ifttt
