Anyone ever start tagging along a ride?

So I’m still a very new rider. I haven’t taken a MSF course yet, and don’t have a license. I learned originally riding along my family farm on my new Honda Monkey, and now it’s at my house and I’ve been riding around my neighborhood.So basically I was riding today, and someone started to tag along with me. I didn’t make any motion to come join, they actually saw me across the Main Street and decided to change course to come join. They might’ve wanted to see what I was riding or what I was up to, I’m not sure. I didn’t change my plans because I’m just practicing low speed neighborhood stuff right now.Anyways, it made me very nervous. As I said, I’m still a new rider. And someone that I don’t know their riding habits and they don’t know mine was unnerving.Have any of you experienced this? Am I overreacting? Should I have stopped and talked?
