https://i.imgur.com/ub27d1p.jpg I was on my way to work on my sad little moped just like everyday, passing through the same secondary roadway as always when I was struck from behind by a car I had seen coming for 400 yards away and more than plenty space to pass me in the left lane. I got hit and my moped's frame curved upwards and, according to an eyewitness I was flung about 20 feet upwards before falling on my ass and sliding accross the shoulder and into the grass. I got up and started screaming at the person who hit me before telling them to stay here because I was taking pictures of the plates. After being a victim of 2 separate Hit and Run incidents I was not letting it happen again. 911 was called and 2 witnesses stayed to make sure everything was okay until first responders arrived. I was admitted to the hospital and only really have road rash and a few too many bruises. The moped is totalled, their car has a busted radiator. I'm fortunate. If I had been runnover by the car I would have died, if I had landed about 10 feet further I would have hit a concrete beam. If my head or back had hit the pavement who knows what might've happened. So what's the takeaway from this? I'm damn lucky. And most importantly everyone should wear protective equipment. Helmet, jacket, pants and boots, always. Even for a 5 minute ride. Im still stoked for my licence and that I'll be able to drive a real bike in 4 days but the very next purchase I'm making is some protective equipment. And a dash cam so I can rest easy and know that justice can be served. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/clfgzx/we_are_all_lucky_to_be_alive/?utm_source=ifttt
