[rant] I'm not Jon, you're not Ponch... Don't "CHiPs" me, bro!

Phone died midday Friday. Went to UBreak. UBreak is in a main plaza accessible by two roads: one has a lot of traffic and a several lights, other has only two lights and several smaller business complexes--office parks, gym, restaurants, etc. 500 yards after the second light there's an anchor-store entrance with a 50 yard deceleration lane on the right. My plan is to enter there and take the service road behind the stores to the other side of the plaza. I had the second road all to myself. I'm stopped at the last light in the left side of the right lane, did a mirror check--nobody else on the road.Light changes and I go to take the entrance. Signal right, and out of habit I do a quick shoulder check even though it's a right merge from my lane. Imagine my surprise when THERE'S A FREAKING MOTORCYCLE THERE! Guy was two feet to my right and at my rear wheel! Best I can figure, he pulled out of one of the smaller plazas and zipped up to "ride formation" with me or something. WTF, had I not checked, I would have flicked right in front of him and knows how he would have reacted. Dude could have easily t-boned me from my own lane!I don't know you, we're not pedaling and this ain't the peloton... I dropped a gear and put some distance giving copious hand signals that I was going right. Why do people do this? Jeez!
