Just lowsided off an embankment into a river

Mountain road. Sun just had gone down, passing lane opened up and I took it, got into body position to take the sloping left turn. I’ve never gone down on a bike and, in one moment I felt it all happen quicker than I could ever fathom, quicker than my imagination had led me to believe. The instantaneous sink of my stomach as my back end went loose, thinking oh shit and ragdolling. Bike ended up with only its front wheel in the river and I landed on a hill of rocks.Oil pan has a hole, rear set and shift linkage is done. Couldn’t see all the damage in the dark. It was about 50 feet lower than I was from where I sat up in the rocks. No reception, but almost instantly a police officer and this amazing couple were there to help me. We got my bike upright and winched it up slowly through the rocks.I don’t know how I didn’t hit my head, my helmet is untouched, my left elbow on my jacket, my left glove is done and my Kevlar pant leg took damage. I fucking slid and flew off into a pile of rocks. They gave me a ride and I drove back down the mountain with my truck to load my bike and bring it home.I’m bruised. Sitting here in this weird silent head space of drinking, looking at motorcycle parts, shocked, awed at how I walked away from this. What sticks out more in that mixture of thought is how I don’t know if or how I’m going to tell my family and friends. Figured I would talk with you, be safe out there brothers and sisters.AGATT via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/cn2lk9/just_lowsided_off_an_embankment_into_a_river/?utm_source=ifttt
