How do you keep your ego in check?

This is only really my third year riding. Im averaging about 1,000/miles a month riding when I can from April - October (IL). I did my first group ride last year and my first overnighter this year. I am obsessed with riding and motorcycles. I love everything about it. It's like motorcycling was waiting for me this whole time because I feel like I am just matched to it. I feel like I'm getting really good, but I also know that experience is so important to remain safe on the bike. Is it experience by years or by miles? Or both? I think my skill has improved so much, but I also hear about all these newbs thinking they're better than they are and end up killing themselves doing something stupid or outside their abilities. How do I stay humble? Is it as simple as not doing stupid shit (no wheelies, stoppies, burnouts etc)? Probably overthinking it but I dont want to fall into a trap of comfortness. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/cc52js/how_do_you_keep_your_ego_in_check/?utm_source=ifttt
