Buy a beater bike-- don't be me.

Just chiming in for any other new riders who aren't taking the age old advice seriously.I wanted a bike ASAP, so I financed one. A 2016 Ducati Scrambler Icon, low mileage. Didn't go looking for it, just test rode it out of curiosity and it fit perfectly. I can afford the payments, I can afford the insurance, I can deal with the maintenance, I love the bike, I was well trained in a course, and it wasn't too powerful for me.By all accounts there's nothing wrong but I still wish I had bought a cheap beater bike to learn on like people said. I'm always on edge that I'm going to drop it, or crash it, and that mentality has real effects on how confident and focused you will be while you're learning to ride.I can't go back now, but you can learn from me.So. Pay your dues. Buy a cheap, solid bike off craigslist. Ride it until you can rev match in your sleep and pull the tightest u-turns without blinking. Then buy your shiny torque monster and have fun.I might still just save up and get a beater, to keep from paying those italian snobs out the nose for replacement parts when i inevitably drop the thing... via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/cajcen/buy_a_beater_bike_dont_be_me/?utm_source=ifttt
