On Any Sunday

This is gonna be a long one; Had probably my most eventful day yet on the bike yesterday. Started off with my first motorbike run, had an absolute blast. ~140 bikes and the run was about 100 miles. Stopped around the halfway mark and cue torrential rain, showed no signs of letting up so took off again. All in all a real enjoyable spin especially being around mates and so many other bikes. After leaving the spin, had about an hour and a half of a drive home, made it about 10 mins down the road before my clutch cable snapped.. classic. Got picked up by my dad on his bike, bolted home, stripped a cable off a broken bike and darted back. No joy. The father drove the bike to my homeplace without a clutch while I got to drive his fazer for the first time. Unreal!!! Got back and realised dumb and dumber were just tightening the cable the wrong way, lengthening it instead of shortening it.Back on the road again got a phone call that I had just won a pair of gloves in a raffle that took place after the run. The day was looking up.About an hour into my journey home I was travelling around the outskirts of the city, a van blew past me and straight through a red light. Ok, maybe they just didn't see it. 2-3 mins later I came to another set of lights and started filtering my way up through traffic to the red light. Noticed the same van and as I was coming alongside they decided to pull straight onto the side of me, blew the horn and managed to swerve but they came at me again, forcing me to swerve into oncoming traffic!! Then proceeded to drive against oncoming traffic and through another red light. At this point I'm fairly shook, I'm not driving bikes all that long and that was the closest call I've had, even though I was only doing about 10kph, but came away without a scratch. Saw the van pull into a car park of a shopping centre and decided to see what the story was and get a reg. Coincidentally a squad car was just pulling out of the car park as I pulled in so flagged them down explained what happened and went on my merry way. Got a phone call when I got home from the police, the woman had later been arrested for driving under the influence and dangerous driving. After about 250 miles on the bike and all the drama I was glad of my bed last night. Yet still so excited to get back on the saddle for my daily commute to work this morning.TL;DR: took part in my first motorbike run, snapped a clutch cable, won a pair of gloves, almost got hit by a dui. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/byvewy/on_any_sunday/?utm_source=ifttt
