1980 Yamaha xs850I know people have mixed feelings about cafe racers but I wanted to share mine anyway. I've been working on this bike for over three years and it's my first real bike build. I didn't have any experience but I wanted to do everything myself. It taught me servicing, welding, painting, fabrication, electronics, carburetors, and a lot more. I might not have done everything correctly but I did it and I was proud of both my failures and successes.Yesterday on my way to the beach the motor seized up and my middle cylinder exploded out of the front end. I suspect the cause was due to a faulty timing plate that came loose and threw the motor out of its cycle. I've yet to critically diagnose it. I know this isn't the end per se, but it broke my heart to see my work literally blow up in my face.Pictures for those interested, motor image is at the bottom. This bike was one of the best things in my life. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/c1wgwz/catastrophic_engine_failure_took_my_bike_out_of/?utm_source=ifttt
