Carrying a Phone

I use a phone app for a GPS lap timer, and I've been pretty happy with it. I upgraded from riding my street bike on the track to a dedicated track bike midway through last season. One thing I miss about the street bike is the trunk. Used to start the timer, toss the phone in the trunk, hop on and go. Track bike doesn't really have anywhere to stash a phone. I could keep it in the breast pocket in my suit, but that makes me a little nervous that it might get turned sideways in a crash just before I land on it. Am I overthinking this?
