What to do if a car reverses into you?

So I just had my first small accidentand I'm looking for things I coud've done better.I was riding slow (right lane) traffic in a city, in front of me was a Transit Van.My position was near the middle line when the Van slowly braked and came to a stopabout 3 metres in front of me, he had no indicator on.Since there was a bus stopping 10 metres in front of that van it took me by surprise when I saw the vans reverse-lights go on...It was benefitial that I was in gear and I immediately pulled my handlebar to the left and accelerated out of his way, into the oncoming lane.(I don't know how I did it but in my panic I managed to make sure the lane is free)Paddling back was no option since I'm riding a 1980 Goldwing with no reverse gear. The van reversed pretty quickly and luckily just scraped off my rear indicator andgently touched my exhaust with his tyre... lolAfter it happened I wondered what would have happened if I had honkedbut since I barely use it, it wasn't my first reaction.Maybe he woud've stopped or maybe he would've reversed over my bike...Funny that the rear indicator is the only spare part I actually have in my garage.the scenesmallest aftermath ever via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/ar81y7/what_to_do_if_a_car_reverses_into_you/?utm_source=ifttt
