Why are 4 cylinder bikes not recommended for beginners?

I got my license learning on an MT07 recently. Been reading lots of advice on first bikes. Most say stay away from 4cylinder and 1cylinder, get a 2.Tried a few. Decided to try a 4cylinder (despite looking for a 2cylinder) anyway. It felt so much smoother/better. It felt very predictable, with a lot less 'shock'/twitchyness when accelerating from slow pace that the MT07 did seem to have.What am i possibly missing? Why do people recommend not starting on a 4cylinder?
