Got Stranded Today... But why?

Just installed a new quickshifter I purchased for my R1, was on my way out to a bike meet when my bike dies in traffic on the FREEWAY... I wheel this heavy boy to the side of the road sitting there pondering life. I realized it had to be my kickstand sensor since my bike would run in neutral but not in gear. Luckily, my opinion was seconded by a Harley mechanic that had pulled over to see if he could offer assistance. He bypassed my sensor by cutting a splicing it, and i was off.​But why did this happen?Is it something i fucked up in the wiring?When installing the quickshifter (coil wire loom type) i connected all coils to the device and spliced the positive cable to my taillight cable, and negative directly to the battery.Before the incident my lights were occasional but not frequently flickering. high beams would flicker as well as turn signal.​Let me know if anyone has any advice :) via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/9e288u/got_stranded_today_but_why/?utm_source=ifttt
