I know this works in Mississippi - it shouldn’t be much different in your state, but check just to be sure.Last year I bought an 05 drz400sm without a title. I was told the PO died, and his wife couldn’t find the title. I checked the VIN through beforehand through a police friend - it was not reported stolen, and it wasn’t even registered in my state. You can get a bonded title through almost any insurance agency in the state. All you do is go to their office and apply for one. It costs a percentage of the value of the bike (in my case it cost $65). They’ll give you the paperwork saying you applied for a bonded title, and you can take that with a bill of sale to get a tag.I’m roughly 3-4 months you’ll either get a bonded title in the mail, which will convert to a clean title a year after it’s issued, or you’ll get a letter stating why you can’t get a title, whether there be a lien on it or what have you. It’s a risk, but it worked for me! I know there are some super cheap bikes out there with “missing” titles. As long as it’s not stolen and it’s an older bike, you should be fine! I hope this helps someone! via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/96xmu0/thinking_of_buying_a_motorcycle_without_a_title/?utm_source=ifttt
