Sector+ for Assen (finally)

tldr; Sector+ is a scoring system for rating a MotoGP riders performance on a sector by sector basis during the race to provide a secondary evaluation metric beyond championship points. If you're keen to learn how the score is derived, I lay it out on my site, along with the results from the previous rounds.Sorry for the delay on getting this one out. In addition to being gone over the weekend, I also took a long look at creating a synthetic benchmark score based on the feedback from /user/SoftwareMaven after the last round. Eventually I had to decide to back burner that for this week and just get the scores out, but I think it's where I'm aiming to get here shortly.MotoGPThe top seven riders in MotoGP were covered by 19 points in Assen, with the top four of Maverick Vinales, Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi, and Alex Rins covered by just 6 points in that order. Andrea Dovizioso, Cal Crutchlow, and Jorge Lorenzo made up a second group trailing those leaders, the three of them within 5 points of each other.Takaaki Nakagami was the top rookie in Assen despite being seriously in the negative overall.MotoGPSector+ ptsSector+ avgMaverick Vinales732.82Marc Marquez702.68Valentino Rossi692.64Alex Rins672.56Andrea Dovizioso592.26Cal Crutchlow552.13Jorge Lorenzo542.08Johann Zarco301.15Alvaro Bautista271.03Andrea Iannone160.6Danilo Petrucci150.88Dani Pedrosa20.09Tito Rabat-1-0.06Jack Miller-4-0.15Aleix Espargaro-7-0.28Pol Espargaro-13-0.49Scott Redding-20-0.77Karel Abraham-40-3.64Takaaki Nakagami-73-2.81Xavier Simeon-73-4.32Bradley Smith-75-2.88Hafizh Syahrin-89-3.42Thomas Luthi-112-4.3That battle for the lead really deserves a couple different views that I normally don't get into, so I pulled together a couple new tables.First, performance by sector for that lead group (and I'm including Zarco here as he was on screen with them even if he wasn't ever really a factor for the win).Individual sectorsT1T2T3T4Maverick Vinales8.828.61219.2Marc Marquez13.215.421.614.4Valentino Rossi13.217.6249.6Alex Rins18.724.224-4.8Andrea Dovizioso8.817.61216.8Cal Crutchlow8.815.4189.6Jorge Lorenzo19.826.419.2-14.4Johann Zarco13.2-15.428.82.4Marc was consistently good with no real weak sectors, whereas all of the other riders had at least one sector where they were a bit off.Probably more telling for how the race actually finished from a championship standpoint is the Sector+ performance by race segment:Race segment123Maverick Vinales281531Marc Marquez241234Valentino Rossi242421Alex Rins251428Andrea Dovizioso281218Cal Crutchlow211420Jorge Lorenzo261415Johann Zarco2631Marquez was just massive in that last 3rd of the race, along with Vinales. Rossi was a metronome, and it obviously would have been really interesting to see how it would have played out if he hadn't had the slip up fighting with Dovizioso.I've tried to do a vizualization of the Sector+ for this group by lap. I need to get a bit sharper with how to do the vizualization of the lap by lap data as it can be cool, but the static image only marginally works with this small group of riders. I've tried to do it for the entire field and it's just spaghetti.Moto2Assen saw three sets of riders near on dead even with each other in Sector+ for the race. Francesco Bagnaia posted the top score for the day (103) by a single point over Fabio Quatararo, who turned in his best performance of the season. Dead even on 81 points were Marcel Schrotter and Alex Marquez, followed closely by Lorenzo Baldassarri, Luca Marini, and Joan Mir all on 78 points. While Mir led the rookies again, Romano Fenati put in a strong performance with 41 points for his 5th consecutive positive Sector+ score.Moto2Sector+ ptsSector+ avgFrancesco Bagnaia1034.31Fabio Quartararo1024.24Marcel Schrotter813.38Alex Marquez813.37Lorenzo Baldassarri783.41Luca Marini783.25Joan Mir783.24Miguel Oliveira682.82Brad Binder622.57Romano Fenati411.96Sam Lowes391.64Andrea Locatelli341.42Xavi Vierge262.92Mattia Pasini170.71Augusto Fernandez160.67Stefano Manzi00Jorge Navarro-4-0.17Dominique Aegerter-6-0.25Remy Gardner-23-0.95Bo Bendsneyder-31-1.28Khairul Idham-32-1.34Simone Corsi-34-1.42Iker Lecuona-38-1.56Joe Roberts-66-2.76Steven Odendaal-66-2.76Isaac Viñales-88-3.67Eric Granado-95-3.97Jules Danilo-101-4.2Federico Fuligni-122-5.1Moto3Marco Bezzecchi led the Moto3 field in both total and average Sector+ at Assen, although it was all for naught when it came down to championship points. Enea Bastianini was second overall, narrowly ahead of Aron Canet and race winner Jorge Martin.Alonso Lopez wasn't able to post a positive Sector+ for the race, but wsas still the top rookie by a comfortable margin over Ai Ogura.Moto3Sector+ ptsSector+ avgMarco Bezzecchi532.41Enea Bastianini462.07Aron Canet421.91Jorge Martin411.86John Mcphee321.53Dennis Foggia281.29Marcos Ramirez210.95Nicolo Bulega200.92Jaume Masia190.87Fabio di Giannantonio180.81Darryn Binder160.72Gabriel Rodrigo150.7Jakub Kornfeil100.46Lorenzo Dalla Porta30.15Tatsuki Suzuki-6-0.25Kaito Toba-19-0.85Philipp Oettl-23-1.04Nakarin Atiratphuvapat-24-1.08Tony Arbolino-24-1.1Albert Arenas-29-1.33Ayumu Sasaki-31-1.41Niccolò Antonelli-38-1.7Kazuki Masaki-39-1.76Adam Norrodin-40-1.82Alonso Lopez-41-1.84Ai Ogura-54-2.44Livio Loi-59-2.68Andrea Migno-70-3.18Stefano Nepa-103-4.68Ryan Van De Lagemaat-114-5.45I promise won't be as late with the next round, and one day will actually get around to automating all of this so I can crank the results out the same day. Thanks again for checking it out and, as always, the season totals are on my site along with the scores for the previous rounds.
