Renting a Trackbike vs Owning

I recently sold my track bike, but still want to do track days so I looked at renting bike at the track and I think I found something interesting. I think financially it is cheaper to rent a bike if your doing 3-5 track days a year. Here's how I priced it out: -Tires for the year: $300-$500 -Gas for bike for Track days(5 days): $100 -Yearly Maintenance for bike(pads,coolant,oil..etc): $300 -Trailer Rental(for all 5 days w/insurance): $200+ -Gas to get to the track(All 5 events): $350 -Track days(Average is 250 so x5):$1500 -Misc:$100 -TOTAL: $2850+ Vs -Track Day with rented bike(500 each so x5): 2500 -Gas to get to track: $200(My car eats gas when it tows) TOTAL:$2700These are price that I have noticed and I pay, obviously other are different.I didn't add the price of a bike in the first one as I just wanted to keep this sort of yearly expenses. However, if I obviously added a dedicated track bike it could add another $2000 to $20,000 depends on how baller you want to be.I just priced out bare necessities that you would need for a track day. I didn't include the bulk of sh*t you need when you have a dedicated track bike and want to start going faster, like tools to bring to the track, spare parts, tire warmers, canopy, water coolers, chairs, bike stands, lap timers and other small pieces I'm missing.I love this sport and won't argue with the fact that there is nothing like riding your own bike at the track, as the bike will be made to your specs and not everyone else's.Lastly just want to say that if you have a dedicated track/Race bike and do 10+ Track days this may not apply.  Price can also vary if you own a trailer, have an actual truck that can tow etc.. via /r/Trackdays https://www.reddit.com/r/Trackdays/comments/92l0vc/renting_a_trackbike_vs_owning/?utm_source=ifttt
