The oil burning on my 2008 CBR was getting a bit ridiculous, as many of them had issues with this. Honda never gave a straight up answer and just said that burning a quart of oil every thousand miles was normal for these bikes smh... The general consensus was that the rings on early '08s were defective in manufacturing, that plus the numerous track days probably had something to do with it.So I decided since I was doing the Rings I might as well pull out the crank and have it sent off to APE for lightning, balancing and removing the counterweight drive gear. 3rd gear was doing some sketchy stuff as well due to the dogs being worn so that was replaced as well. I also balanced my pistons and rods to within .002 of a gram, put all new bearings in, new valve stem seals and cleaned up my valves.Just got the crank back last night, plastigaged everything to make sure I had the right bearings, (I have a horror story involving skipping this step and installing the wrong size main bearings once upon a time) And got everything ready to be buttoned up.I really wanted to share a picture of the crank before I put it in the journals, as it was an absolute thing of beauty. Unfortunately, I didn't think about it until after I had torqued my rod caps, And I'm not taking it back out just to share a pic, LOL. Sorry. So I'll just include a picture of it sitting in the journals. Still beautiful😀😀 via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/fddrs5/behold_race_crank_installed/?utm_source=ifttt
