well I crashed

Sooooo yeah. Just laid my bike down for the first time. Not very proud of it, currently. What happened:Got on my bike to head home. Decided it was a good idea to accelerate fairly enthusiastically as soon as I got on the side street I was heading down. (spoiler: it was a bad idea)As soon as I hit the power band, a bit of weight was lifted off the front tire. It was also dark outside, and I wasn't aware of the large amount of dirt and sand that was strewn all around the street... Front tire slid out and I sent my bike (and myself) sliding down the street. So, in short, these are the factors involved in this crash:Idiocy (too much acceleration for the conditions)Sand/dirt in roadLack of light (could not see debris in road)I now have a nice gash and some swelling in my knee. Thankfully, nothing is broken. As for the bike, just some scratches on the fairing, and I shattered the frame slider on that side. (03 SV650S)I praise God for allowing me to get right up and ride the bike home. It could have been worse. I'm now sitting at home with a bag of ice on my knee.I was wearing gear from head to toe, except for motorcycle pants. I was just wearing jeans, because I don't currently own motorcycle pants (bought a couple pairs that ended up needing to be returned, money is tight right now and haven't yet ordered another pair). Perhaps if I were wearing armored pants, this gash in my knee would have also been prevented. But it all happened very fast... It was a matter of milliseconds, and that's all it took to lose traction on the front tire and dump my shit on the ground. I rolled once or twice and got up. My bike was still sliding across the ground when I stood up. I basically watched it slide to a stop and thought "Well that was rather dumb of me"So, yeah. This is a learning experience. I'm typically a cautious rider. But in this moment, I really wasn't very cautious at all. Hopefully my knee won't be too messed up when I wake up in the morning. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/f86tbp/well_i_crashed/?utm_source=ifttt
