I was riding my 1974 BMW R90/6 through the bushfire-ravaged area in Australia. The fires are all out but there is still a lot of cleaning up to be done by road crews. One road took me through a National Park. About 240 kilometres of very rough, dirt/gravel road. After travelling 180ks I came to a "road-closed" sign. Problem was, I couldn't turn around and return to the last town on the fuel I had left. What to do? Maybe its just an advisory sign and I could still make it? I decided to crash through or crash. The road got progressively worse with terrible wash-outs due to the recent downpours of rain and lost ground-cover. Some of the tight sections were really trail-bike bits. I started to get really worried because if I had a problem (like falling off or mechanical issue) I had no hope of assistance/rescue as the road was closed. Not only that but there were heaps of suicidal kangaroos hopping out in front of me so had to ride quite slowly. Didn't see another vehicle for the next 40-50ks and started to worry that there might be a totally impassable obstruction further on. Then I really would be in trouble.( I've got a bad leg and can't walk very well at the best of times)Obviously I made it through to a town called Jindabyne. Felt like the poor old bike was running on fumes but put 20 litres in a 22 litre tank so it wasn't as close as I had feared. Got back to the main roads and continued on, finally covering about 600kms for the day.Might be getting a bit old for such shenanigans (60) via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/f9r6me/scary_decision/?utm_source=ifttt
