80 year old historic helmets. A pair of WWII Commonwealth motorcycle helmets.

First off I hope that this doesn’t break the subs rules, I have searched and found nothing like it on the sub so I am just hoping they were not removed. With that out of the way, I am a collector of WW2 military items and for the most part Commonwealth helmets are my major focus. I have recently purchased a beautiful Canadian WW2 Dispatch riders helmet and I though that this sub might enjoy seeing some almost 80 year old safety gear. This is my Canadian and British made HSDR (Helmet Steel Dispatch Rider) helmets. These were both made in 1942 and were made not really to protect the user from accidents but more to protect them from low velocity bullets and shrapnel. These would be considered the combat versions and were issued to those that would have been in theatre (in this case European mainland) while those in non combat locations would be issued with a pulp and cork(not my helmet but might be my next buy) version to prevent head injuries from crashes. The British DR helmet interior was constructed with felt and horse hair to protect the rider while the Canadian one used sobro foam as cushioning. The non combat version was basically pulped paper with either a painted cloth or painted leather over the exterior with a cork or foam core to protect the head.I have also included a picture of a WW2 Commonwealth MkII riders goggles and here is a picture of a pair of dispatch rider trades badges that would be issued when you finished your course.Hopefully someone find this interesting, I like showing subs things that are related but a little different than what they are used to seeing. If there is any questions feel free to ask and will try and answer, more pictures can also be supplied. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/ezji2q/80_year_old_historic_helmets_a_pair_of_wwii/?utm_source=ifttt
