Is a good expensive jacket worth it?

Im looking for a new high quality leather jacket, because i am going to be doing most of my commuting on my bike. And lots of fun riding. So i will probably be riding about 5 days a week. Im looking at getting a Alpinestars GP Plus R V2 or something in the $550 cad range.TL:DR: i will be commuting and fun riding about 5 days a week this year.
