TL;DR How often do scooter batteries (2009 Honda Click; 110 cc) need replacing? My garage says ~6-12 months is standard. Bonus question: should I expect some sort of indication before the battery dies?Hi all. I live in Thailand and drive a 2009 Honda Click (110 cc). How often should my battery need replacing? I just had to replace mine after getting a new unit installed ~8 months ago. This time, it died catastrophically, i.e. there were no indications that it was dying or getting weaker. It's been working without issue for 8 months. Today I drove ~30 minutes to dinner, ate for an hour, and when I came back it was completely dead (I had to start it with a kick-start). That's kind of the main frustration--that there was no indication that it was dying. I was left stranded far from home because of that. Had I known it was dying, or knew it needed replacement soon, I would have replaced it before it got to that point. The garage owner says this is expected. She said usual motorbike batteries for this model last ~1-2 years. She also followed that up with, the batteries she uses in her shop usually last about 6 months. I didn't quite understand why she said that, and didn't ask any follow-up questions there :-/ I trust that she's not trying to rip me off--I knew the family before buying the bike, and bought the bike from them. But, she may be misguided, or didn't communicate something accurately, or it's quite possible that I didn't understand something well enough.More InfoI don't drive much. I average maybe 30-60 minutes of driving per day.The cost of a new battery is only $20, with labor. So the cost isn't my concern. The fact that this failed without notice/indication, leaving me stranded, is my main frustration. Don't car batteries give some indication that they are getting weaker, and need replacing? If this post belongs in /r/scooters, I apologize, and I'm happy to move it. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/ewmjlw/honda_click_how_often_should_a_typical_battery/?utm_source=ifttt
