Had my tires replaced the other day - can anyone tell why the mechanic was laughing (at me) like crazy?

I know, my fault. Ive been riding on these for 6 months (noobie, first bike) - mechanic says it's a miracle I didn't die (tongue in cheek).He also found a lot of unrelated issues and said if he were the dealership, he would morally not have been able to sell this bike to someone. I fucking went to a dealer and paid tbe higher prices (vs Craigslist or something) because I assumed they would have higher standards...Anyway photo below - replaced after approx 6 months of almost daily riding.
