Did I make a huge mistake?

Hey guys. First time posting on this sub- on Reddit in general- but long time lurker. I'm in serious need of advice. Anything is appreciated. So I've wanted to ride for years. I recently came into a bit a money, and realized I could finally afford a bike (well, a used one anyway), so I did my research, and looked into what was available around me. I settled on a 2009 Vstar 650. I ended up having to take my MSF class twice, passing the second time but barely. With how much trouble I was having, I wondered if I'd even be able to actually do this, but the times where I finally felt like I was actually riding were amazing enough to make me want to continue. Here's where the mistakes start. I sat on the Vstar before I bought it, did mock turns etc., but didn't get the chance to actually ride it until the other day after I was legal and it was already sitting in my garage. I'm a idiot, I know- you don't need to tell me. I took it out for the first time the other day in my neighborhood, and everything seemed to be going well until I tried to practice a u-turn. I don't know why I thought that was a good idea since I was having trouble with that in class on a even smaller bike, but anyway. So I drop the bike. I wasn't going too fast, so no big deal, just bruised ego. I ride around a bit more and decide to try the turn again. And I drop the bike AGAIN- worse this time. It was lodged in mud, and I had to call my brother to come help me pull it out. I figured that was a sign that I should quit while I'm ahead, so I rode it home. After cleaning off the mud and inspecting it, I tried to start the bike and it now won't start. The engine trouble warning light comes on with a clicking noise each time I try. They just replaced the battery before I bought it, so I don't think that's the problem unless two impacts did something. I don't have the slightest clue about maintenance yet, so I'm not sure how to even check to see what's wrong. I have a warranty, luckily, but I'm kinda embarrassed to have to bring it in literally a day after they dropped it off.So I guess there's two parts to this; one- if anyone has an idea about what could be wrong with the bike. It seems odd that I was able to ride it home with it dying the second I pulled into the garage. Two- did I buy the wrong bike? A lot of people seem to think that the Vstar is a great starter, and I thought that by getting a 650 I'd be able to handle it as a beginner, but that it would also be just enough for when I'm more seasoned. I should have actually tried to ride it before buying it, I know, so you don't need to remind me. It doesn't seem like I'm able to handle basic maneuvers that someone at my height and weight should be able to do easily. Is it just from inexperience? (I'm 5'9, about 185 lbs.) Should I even try to keep riding this bike, or see if the dealership would take it back? Dropping it twice in one day obviously isn't a good sign. Or do I just need to just start lifting? I'm just very conflicted and sad over this whole situation :( via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/eqscxc/did_i_make_a_huge_mistake/?utm_source=ifttt
