Good evening,It seems a great deal of motorcyclists break their collarbone even if an accident is at low speed. Does anyone know the "science" behind shoulder armor? Is it there to help prevent collarbone fractures or is it more to absorb general impact and you can just assume your collarbone is SOL? I understand that armor in general is just there to minimize injuries, especially at higher speeds. But many of these clavicle breaks seem to be at extreme low speeds, some almost at a dead stop. After seeing this ATGATT post today, and watching an old Walterific video where he had a full under jacket armor and was going maybe 15 mph but still broke his collarbone. It just got me thinking if I am falsely attributing shoulder armor to collarbone protection? via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/eux49n/breaking_your_collarbone/?utm_source=ifttt
