Repair shop broke my friends Burgman 400 beyond repair.

A friend of mine took her 2004 burgman 400 to a repair shop for new tires, drive belt and had them check the valves.Got the bike back a week later. It ran fine cold. Lost power after it got warmed up. It also had trouble starting if it was still warm.Back to the shop...Two weeks later. They still haven’t corrected the problem.Another week. They find that the original mechanic didn’t install the belt correctly and it destroyed the entire clutch. The shop said, they’re going to replace the entire clutch system on their own dime.Today. They said they cannot replace the clutch, the parts are unavailable. My friend would like them to ask them for the cost of replacing the scooter ($2000) and the cost of the original repair ($800) that she already paid for...which started her down this current path. I suggested she asks them to simply replace the scooter. I found one on CL for $1900. Its a year newer and lower miles.I’ve never heard of something like this happening. The shop actually told her, the guy they had working on the bike isn’t that good and that the owner and shop Forman would be watching over him while he works on her bike.I’ve suggested contacting a lawyer. But might cost more than the bike itself. Any ideas or advice?tl;dr Friend takes working bike to a repair shop. 4 weeks later, had a box of parts that used to be a bike. What do?(Edit: It’s late and I suck at typing) via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/e924v3/repair_shop_broke_my_friends_burgman_400_beyond/?utm_source=ifttt
