Is it bad to idle a two-stroke engine for 2+ minutes and can the damage be reversed? What about a 4-stroke engine?

I have a 2-stroke Derbi GPR50 and I'm wondering if it's bad to let it idle during traffic lights. If it is, can the damage to the spark plugs or other components be reversed during riding?
