Had my first accident yesterday

Only been riding about 2 years now but had my first accident yesterday. Was riding around Sicily on a rented v-strom, when I hit something slick in the road. Had been raining all day which I'm sure contributed to it but suddenly the bike was no longer underneath me. there was minimal damage to the bike but as soon as I got up I knew something was wrong with my wrist. Ended up getting taken to some hospital in the backwoods of Italy and found to have a shattered wrist.I feel like looking back on it there wasn't anything that I could do to change the outcome aside from simply not riding.
