witnessing my first head pat

There I was cruising along a wide-open stretch of highway when a fellow cyclist pasted going the opposite direction and I saw them clearly pat the top of their head. My father, being a cyclist as well, had told me offhandedly what such a movement insinuates. I slowed down and sure enough 1 mile down was good ol’ uncle sam.
