Placing a deposit a good idea?

I'm planning to put a deposit on a 2020 Honda Rebel today. Bike is $5499 MSRP (Canadian) plus about 1000 in pdi and docs.As the bike is not out yet does placing a deposit interfere with my ability to negotiate an OTD price or is it discussed at time of deposit?I doubt they would be willing to budge on anything as it's a new model but just wasn't sure what the common practice is via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/dtxhnh/placing_a_deposit_a_good_idea/?utm_source=ifttt
