Noob Rider: Advice on lane splitting techniques.

Hello all,Noob rider here living in CA with about 4 months of riding under my belt. So far I have been loving it and feel like I am learning a lot. One thing i would really like to know more about is safe splitting. I've watched YT videos with the basic tips of not riding 15mph faster than traffic and only splitting between lanes 1 and 2. Today I had a dilemma and would like to know how I could have handled it better. I'd also appreciate any other safe splitting tips.I was riding up to an intersection with a red light, so i decide to split between lane 1 and 2 and as i'm rolling up to the light and almost to the front I'm squeezing between a big ass delivery truck and a sedan. Before i reach the front of the intersection, while still between the 2 vehicles the light turns green and traffic on both of my sides begins moving. I was sandwiched for a couple seconds until I accelerated my way out of the middle and claimed a lane. What do you guys and girls do when the light turns green while you are still working your way up to the intersection? Is splitting next to a big ass truck a no no? via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/dv4r5n/noob_rider_advice_on_lane_splitting_techniques/?utm_source=ifttt
