Is ABS worth it?

Does it make a meaningful impact on safety?I ride a ‘06 t100 and recently went from casual riding to a daily commuter in Los Angeles. I commute home on a highway that is basically a parking lot at 5:30, so I carefully lane split at about 30mph. Yesterday I had someone change lanes rapidly in front of me without signaling. I over reacted slightly and locked the rear wheel. I recovered fine, and still had probably 5 feet of stopping distance if I needed it, but it was a pretty tight space to be in between two lanes while skidding my rear wheel. That got me wondering if I should up grade and if I’d notice a difference on a more modern bike.I love my bike, but didn’t buy it as a daily rider.
