Helmet wind noise

I've been having a problem with tinnitus in my left ear specifically after long rides, despite wearing earplugs.I wasn't sure why I was having the problem only in the left ear before, but came to the realization when paying attention today that my helmet is generating extra wind noise by my left ear.I'm not sure exactly why this is the case, or what the potential remedies/things to check for might be. If necessary, I'll replace the helmet - though it is a pretty expensive/otherwise nice model; a Shoei Neotec 2.Have any of you encountered something like this, and/or have any recommendations about things to check for?
