So tonight I had my first confrontation with a deer while riding my motorcycle. It's a dark night, very little moonlight on a wooded road, so visibility was not the best. I first saw a large deer right off the shoulder of the road, then noticed a younger one in center of my lane. I didn't want to try to dodge it as I figured that would end very poorly for my bike and myself. I managed to slow down from 45 to 15mph by the time my synapses fired and I reached the deer. Of course, the deer stood there just staring at me. That's when I said "uh oh". I hit the deer. It managed to scoot towards my right as it was falling to the ground, which I imagine saved both of us a bit of pain. I rode over part of the deer (not sure which part) and came to a stop. Thankfully the person in the car behind me was paying attention and didn't come flying into me. All in all I'd say I got very lucky as there was no damage done to myself or my bike! (The deer ran off seeming to be alright)Sorry for the rant, it's still just a "wtf" moment in my head. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/dqut6t/bike_vs_deer/?utm_source=ifttt
