I'd just like to put a small "Thank You" out there to anyone who drives a car, and makes room for us on the road. I ride my bike year round, and have the misfortune to get off work just as the traffic starts to get heavy. There's one particular part of my commute that I have to merge into traffic that is usually bumper to bumper and as you can imagine it can be a nightmare trying to get in. Usually I end up with people zipping up past me bacause they think it's going to save them time by not letting me in.Today, I turned on my turn signal, pulled up alongside the traffic, and did the dance of looking over my shoulder while simultaneously not crashing into the car in front of me and keeping the bike upright at slow speeds. And there, much to my surprise, was an opening. A car (Toyota by the looks of it) had slowed down and opened up enough space for me to slide into. I pulled in and waved over my shoulder with all five fingers. To add to it, this person then kept a nice distance behind me, not riding my ass like most people do in this kind of traffic. They understood that being eight feet further away from me, was not going to make the traffic go any slower, nor was hugging my rear fender going to make it go faster. They kept enough space for me to feel comfortable, and a small enough space that another car couldn't get between us. They kept this up for about 5 miles, all with heavy traffic all around us.So here's my big THANK YOU! to any and all who do this for us crazy fuckers that love to ride. Whether you ride yourself, and just happen to be in your cage, or you don't ride at all and are just a good person doing what we all wish more people would do, thank you. You make our lives just a tad safer for those few precious minutes, ensuring that we make it home to our loved ones. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/dsx8bl/a_small_thank_you/?utm_source=ifttt
