Hi all,I got rear ended by a car during my commute this week, and just got word back from insurance that they're going to write off my 2014 ~10,000 mile-old Ninja 300. I love this goddamn bike, its been with me through some shit, and the cost to 'buy it back' from the insurance company is around $800 (ie. my settlement cheque would be either $3300, or $2500 if I keep the bike). It has a brand new headbearing, chain/sprocket, tires, and brakes that are a season old. Mechanically the bike runs like new and I was really good about regular maintenance. Most of the damage is relatively cosmetic -- the fairing on the left is beat up, as are the brake lever and bar ends, and unfortunately the shifter is bent into the frame so shifting up/down is currently impossible. The initial impact from the car also snapped the rearset bracket on the right hand side, so while everything is intact, the peg/rear brake are 'dangling'The crash itself happend at walking speed, so I don't suspect any frame or engine damage. For someone who up until now has only done his own oil changes, how hard/costly might it be to get it worthy for the track? I don't care about the cosmetic stuff, I just don't want to give up the bike. Is this something where if I had the parts I'd be able to salvage and get it trackworthy? The cost of service, to me, isn't really going to be worth it, but I'm willing to pay for the hardware.Would love some opinions from people who know more than I do.tldr: for someone who isn't mechanically skilled, but willing learn, how difficult would it be to covert a written-off Ninja 300 to a track day only ride?shifter damagerearset damagelever damage via /r/Trackdays https://www.reddit.com/r/Trackdays/comments/dgqqb3/ninja_300_write_off_to_track_conversion/?utm_source=ifttt
