Moto stolen and recovered. Only basic coverage. No suspect. Now what?

I'm just curious. I had a honda ascot vt500 stolen. They found it outside someones house a week later. Tried to get the person in the house to own up to it but they didnt. I got the bike back. Only had basic coverage so no payout. They trashed the bike. Still runs but just tore it up. Going to cost a good thousand to get it back in decent shape. Cops said I'm s.o.l. I paid $325 to get it out of storage. Is that it? No recourse? Just suck up the loss and be glad I got it back?
