A few pics from my first ride down the PCH.Been riding for only a few months now, slowly taking longer and longer rides as I build confidence at intersections and in traffic (the plight of SoCal residents). I plotted out a trip from my home to the coast, then down the coastline from Newport Beach to Dana Point on the Pacific Coast Highway. (We took the same path home.)It was AMAZING! There were some challenges in traffic (too scared to lane split just yet) and steep hills, especially in Laguna Beach. But I was cautious, alert, and focused, and the traffic was so light between beach towns that we were able to enjoy a faster pace while taking in the beautiful views and salty sea air.And all the motorcyclists were so friendly! We got waves from almost everyone we passed, at least two dozen other riders enjoying the lovely weather. I felt like I was being rewarded for persevering at my motorcycle fundamentals all summer, that I could earn a wave from riders of all types. There was something deeply cathartic about being on a gently curving six lane highway and letting the rocky coast unfurl before me, when all I’ve done up until now is ride around my suburb since May. It was so cool to ride the PCH, a legendary route for motorcyclists. And best of all, it felt great to see how much my ability has progressed, while also accepting how much I have to learn.Motorcycling has been my favorite hobby I’ve ever picked up and I only wish I had been brave enough to start sooner.Oh, and the BMW G310R is mine and the Yamaha FZ-07 is my boyfriend’s. He’s the best ever for letting me lead since I’m still a little slow. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/db3h64/my_first_long_ride_two_hours_on_the_pch/?utm_source=ifttt
