Moving bike cross country

I might have to move from CA to the East coast and have both a bike and a car, plus my furniture. The bike transport services are quoting around $700. To rent a bike trailer from U-Haul would be about $600. For the house stuff, I was thinking about getting one of those PODs type companies and was curious if I could put my bike in there with the furniture? Seems Upack's have a lot of tie down hooks to secure it well.
