I have been thinking about it since I was about 17 and 8 years later I still haven't gotten around to it. I think I want to pull the trigger and get a bike for primary transport.I am tired of the cost of maintaining cars and just want to get a relatively simple bike that I can work on myself. I only live 13 miles from work. I am willing to sacrifice the ability to be able to haul things and do large grocery runs. The weather is hot most of the year and I have little to no winter. If it rains, I can borrow a car or rideshare.I don't really make a lot of money, so maintaining a car eats up a giant portion of my monthly pay. Riding a bike for several months will save me so much more money that I could use for other things or even an eventual car.I need something that can ride comfortably at 45-55mph speed limits and is reliable. I would like something that isn't going to cost and arm and leg to insure. I rode dirt bikes several times as a kid, but I have never got on a 600 supersport or anything like that. I personally don't feel comfortable with anything over a 300cc for sportbikes, but I would obviously be okay with a 650 cruiser or something more mild.A few craiglists listings in my area came up with a few rebels in the 1500-1800 range. A Suzuki 650 cruiser for 1300, a vstar 1100 for 2300. Any of these sound like good deals? What would you recommend as a daily rider bike? I don't really care about speed, I want to do this in the most safe manner possible, so crazy speed isn't my interest. What kind of bikes should I be looking at? via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/d5up08/going_to_get_a_motorcycle_as_a_primary/?utm_source=ifttt
