Decided to say fuck it and trek it from San Jose to the Grand Canyon, 1500 miles roundtrip to Flagstaff and then an extra 200 to the Grand Canyon itself.I ride an Fz-09 and I love my bike, but good lord it is not made for any journey over 60 miles, at least not stock. Looking back on it, I think two things are vital for a ride like this; cruise control and a nice seat. The two most sore parts of my body are my throttle hand and my ass. I'm a relatively novice rider, about three years under my belt, and I vastly underestimated just how sore my body would be. Granted I did this trip in 3 days, 2 of which were dedicated to riding to and from.I had mapped out stopping points and contingency plans given that my bike's range is roughly ~150 miles max. A part of me wanted to push it just to see how far a single tank of gas could get me, but alas, I played it safe on the way to Arizona. Everything went swimmingly, even the 120 degree desert for like 60% of the ride haha, but I found myself exhausted with about 100 miles left, even after stopping and stretching, drinking water, some shitty energy drinks etc.How do you guys do long trips like that? What are the essentials so that I may be more prepared for the next long ride? For the record, if you haven't been, Flagstaff is beautiful, so much green, and the roads are superb. I don't know much about Arizona legislature, but good lord their roads are amazing. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/ckjxa0/well_boys_and_girls_i_did_it/?utm_source=ifttt
