Finally, it happened....

... I dropped my bike! I've been a rider for seven years now and so far this has never happened to me and I regard myself to be a more or less experienced rider. However, I am a rather small girl (168cm) and even though my FZS 600 is not the tallest bike on earth, it is quite tall for me.It happened on my way to work this morning. I didn't get that far. I arrived at the first traffic lights, approximately 500 meters from my home, and stopped there. After a while I realised this would would take some time and I decided to shift into neutral gear, put down my right leg... And didn't realise that a car must have lost a lot of oil there. It was slippery like ice and I just could not hold it upright... Story could have ended here but unfortunately it didn't. I got a driver to help me get the bike up again but then it dropped to the other side because the whole area was so goddamn slippery. Nice... Got her up again and somehow managed to move her to the side of the road, which wasn't that easy because the oil had stuck to my boots. The bike wouldn't start at first and had lost some liquid (I suspect either oil or gas). I waited for a couple of minutes, got her started again and drove back home. From the looks of it, the bike is alright! However, I'm still a little shaken. Later I drove the 30kms to work and everything worked alright. Seems like I have been lucky.I guess I just needed to share this with you. Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. I feel like I made an idiot of myself in front of all the people by letting the bike drop again. And what did I learn from this? Always, always, always check the ground for stains of some kind. I had, but I had assumed it was water rather than oil. I'll never make this mistake again. Second lesson: other people can be idiots. I was obviously struggling to get the bike up and to the side of the road but no one helped or got out of his car or whatever. I had to directly approach a driver and ask him if he could get out to help. He hesitated but helped eventually. But once the bike was up again he hurried back to his car and left me in the middle of the road. I'm not living in a big city, more like a small suburban town. I would have expected people to be more willing to help but whatever.... via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/cwyd8c/finally_it_happened/?utm_source=ifttt
