Instead of a team taking 2 slots and each rider going for a few laps because of the battery, they could allow riders to be a pair, so when the battery is done the first rider goes to pit, stop the bike, get off at a designed spot, walks to the second rider (already on a charged bike) and turn on his bike. In case the team is running a single rider, he can jump on the bike and ride the second part of the race, in this case, the bike is already running. I think the time to hit the switch and jumping on a live bike is quite similar.
This way the race could last twice the time. If the first rider crash, the second rider would be allowed to start from the garage just after the pair who was behind the guy who crashed crosses the pit lane exit. In this case, half the points would be earned, just like if the first rider didn't crash but the second did. If a guy crashed from 1st and the second guy won the race, that would be 12.5 points. If only the second rider crashed, half points would be rewarded according to the position the first rider had on the last time he crossed the finish line, so no drag race to pit lane.
To avoid teams pairing the best riders, all teams shouldn't hire riders from the team that finished just below them in the standings. 1st can't hire from 2nd, 2nd can't hire from 3rd, etc. Rookies or comebacks would be free to join any team.
Extra points would be rewarded to the team who mounted the best sound system on their bike to imitate a real bike, also a horn contest would take place on the warm-up, giving the winner the chance to take full points if he crashed. Wheelies during the race would be awarded points according to how many seconds the wheel was up.
