Sad farewell to an unusual security feature.

There is a bumblebee nest in the wall of the shed where I store my bike and every now and then one comes out and stings me (on my left ear! Every time!) I don’t mind, as bumblebee stings don’t hurt much and I think the insects are lovely. Very sadly the other day, as I cracked open the bike shed door, I wasn’t greeted by the angry buzz of indignant guard bees. Concerned, I looked over to the hive - there were a scattering of bee corpses on the ground. I tapped the wall to encourage them to give out a hum but there was deathly silence. I am sad to say that some creature, probably hornets (not Honda hornets I hope) has wiped out my lovely guard bees who for months have diligently protected my bike and their home from all comers (including myself). They’ve been there for at least 5-6 years. RIP guardian bees. I will miss you, but at least you will no longer try to get inside my visor to angrily sting my eyes. via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/cc6zmz/sad_farewell_to_an_unusual_security_feature/?utm_source=ifttt
