I live in Salem Oregon, where to get into Salem from the West, you have to cross these giant 4 lane one way bridges. So I'm riding on this bridge, I'm out in the leftmost lane, and traffic is packed. I turn my head right to check mirror and lanes and right as I'm turning back, I see a motorcyclist with a passenger twist his wheel right and slam! Both to the ground. Bike landed on them and everything. I clear the lane to my right, and stop traffic in the 2nd from right lane, where my comrades crashed. I park the bike in front of them to kind of create this bubble around them. I run over to find a 50-60 year old man and his equally aged wife on the ground. He manages to get out from under the bike, but his wife is pinned. I help him up and we stand his bike back up. Uh-oh, she's still on the ground, so he pegs his bike and we run over to her. "Don't move, does anything hurt?" I shout, "Yes, my arm is hurting" as she clutches her right arm firmly. At this moment a driver runs up to the scene, he must have been a few cars back because I didn't see what car he came from, and the drivers immediately around us were helping. "He was swerving all over the place back there, I saw him earlier, I think that guy is drunk or on something!" Shouted the driver as he pointed at the old man (keep in mind that I saw at least 10 other bikes with a similar build on my way back). Angry I raised my hand in a stop gesture, stepped toward him and yelled "go back to your car, we do not need you here yelling" I must have intimidated him (a fully armoured 6'2" man seems to have that effect on people), he immediately went back to his car without saying another word. I turned back to the lady and kneeled, "do not move ma'am, we're going to get you some help" speak of the devil, another motorcyclist runs up, he comes to where I'm standing and says, "I'm an MHT, I can help" so I get up and let him do his thing. I go back to the old man, "you should sit down, you may be in shock sir" as I rub his back, "I'm okay, I'm just worried about my wife" I understand sir, if you need me for anything just let me know. I turn back to the MHT "What can I do to help? Has anybody called 911?" He looks up and yells "has anybody called 911?!" A lady behind us yells back "I'm on the phone with them, they're on the way" he turns to me and says "go redirect traffic, take point and I'll have him stand closer and redirect". I go a few feet down from a car parked behind the scene and start signaling traffic to move into the next lane, I do this for about 10 minutes until bike cops arrive. They take over and take my statement and number then say I'm free to go.To the old man on the bike: I hope your wife is okay.To the driver who got off just to yell at the old man: fuck you.Sorry about format, I'm on mobile via /r/motorcycles https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/c9d236/heres_the_july_4th_accident_that_was_waiting_to/?utm_source=ifttt
